DescriptionThe Cooks role is to cook the appropriate items in a timely fashion while upholding standards for cleanliness, quality, health, sanitation, and safety. ResponsibilitiesApplies safety and health standards as per the Atlantic County Health CodesKnows the menu thoroughly and is able to make each dish on the menuUnderstands and adheres to companys policies and processes, cooking methods, standard portion sizes, and kitchen rules and quality standardsChecks the freshness of food and ingredients before cooking to verify that they meet requirements for quality and quantityEnsures that all food and products are consistently prepared, weighed, measured, mixed, portioned, baked, roasted, sauteed, grilled, broiled, steamed and/or fried and served according to recipes and standards as put forth by A Bite of the Caribbean Prepares a variety of meats, seafood, poultry, vegetables, and other food items in broilers, ovens, grills, fryers and a variety of other kitchen equipment according to restaurants recipes Pre-cooks items in order to prepare them for later useRegularly checks the temperature of food and food storage areas Reads food order slips or receives verbal instructions as to food required by patron, and prepares and cooks food according to instructionsCooks the exact number of items ordered by each customer, working on several different orders simultaneouslyGarnishes and arranges food for each order Assumes 100% responsibility for quality of food products served Reports any mishaps in the kitchen to the owner/managerCleans the kitchen and maintains its cleanliness at all timesStocks and organizes the different workstations and display casesReplenishes food items used during the current shift for the next shiftPrepares requisitions for groceries and supplies on a daily basisCoordinates with the other kitchen staffHandles, stores and rotates all products properlyCleans all the kitchen equipment, utensils, pots, and pans after useCompletes specific cleaning responsibilities and station maintenance including, but not limited to the walk-in refrigerator, prep, cooking surfaces, utensils, and dry storage areasCloses the kitchen properly and follows the closing checklist for kitchen stationsRemoves trash bags and dispose in the outside trash receptacleFills in where needed to ensure standards and efficient operationsPerforms other related duties as requested Minimum QualificationsMinimum Age: 18 yearsPrevious Experience RequiredReliable TransportationAble to lift a minimum of 20 lbs.Slip resistant shoes
